Fybros Electrical Tape: How to Successfully Use it

Electrical tape, also known as insulating tape, is an economical general-purpose tape with excellent features like resistance to corrosion, abrasion, and moisture. Fybros electrical tape has multi-purpose use. It insulates electrical wires, makes minor repairs to damaged/broken wires, and is also helpful in insulating other materials that mainly conduct electricity. Due to the elongation properties of vinyl, our electrical tapes are commonly made from it.

Select the appropriate electrical tape grade

Go for cold weather tape for better adhesion if you reside in cold conditions area. For all other applications like indoor wires, we recommend using Standard electrical tape. Ensure you pick the correct tape by paying attention to the minimum and maximum temperature ratings of the Fybros electrical tape. Before you buy any electrical tape for indoor or outdoor purposes, ensure that the tape is certified.

Stretch the tape as you wrap

When you apply your electrical tape to the damaged area, we advise stretching the tape at the time of application. By doing this you will make the best use of the tape. It will provide more insulation protection when the tape is adequately stretched at the application time than when applied loosely. By doing this, electricians will ensure the tape will withstand the elements to which it is used.

self-bonding tape for superior moisture resistance

Self-fusing tape, also known as Self-bonding rubber tape, can be used to moisture seal and insulate electrical applications with low voltage. Fybros electrical tapes, when wrapped, bond to themselves, left with is no "sticky" side just like in the case of regular tape. Self-bonding tape provides durability, tear, and abrasion resistance as it is made from rubber resin.

Half-lap the tape

The correct use of Fybors electrical tape is to half-lap which will result in the double layering of the electrical tape. The thumb rule is to do a minimum of one and half times the thickness or two half-lapped layers of the insulation of the wire that you are wrapping, whichever suits you best. Make sure that the electrical tape you buy should be thicker than the insulation to double sure you from any mishappening.

These tips will help you safely and adequately use Fybros electrical tapes for your upcoming (small or huge) project. Keep in mind to always verify the temperature and electrical ratings of the Fybros electrical tapes you are looking for before its application.
